It seems like every other day there is some fad diet that says that we need to cut or change the amount of carbs in our diets in order to lose weight and be healthier.  However many of us don't realize that the right carbs can actually make us feel fuller longer, increase our energy, and decrease our risks of diabetes and heart disease!  The issue that many people struggle with though when it comes to carbs is the selection.  When shopping for rice, bread and pasta the reality is that we have a choice to either chose whole grains that will give us all the benefits previously listed or we can chose a refined grain which basically reverses all of those benefits.  Confused about what choice to make?  Don't worry we are here to help!

We realize that it is easy to tell someone to eat healthier but it is hard to do in real life on a day to day basis.  The reason for that is for most people in order to be healthier our day to day lifestyle has to be different and just like your bad habits didn't develop overnight a consistent healthier lifestyle can take some time to build for the average person.  We are here to help you learn the foundation of what you need to know so that healthier choices become just as easy for you as the bad ones used to be.  Our physician will meet with a small group of 4 at a local Whole Food Store (Upper Kirby area) and specifically review with the group what whole grains are, what is an appropriate amount of carbs to have in your diet and what ingredients to look for in common foods that really are fake whole grain foods.   Will also review what grains cause a slower release of insulin in the bloodstream and how to incorporate them into your diet in a healthy way.  Handouts will be given.

Participation in this event is free for Harmony Health members therefore we encourage you if you are not a member to check out our the Harmony packages here as it provides significant savings and additional benefits.  Otherwise if you are not interested in becoming in member we would still love to help you learn to be a healthier version of you so please proceed to registration.
