Winter Staff Renewal Break Begins

Our annual Winter staff renewal break begins today. As an integrative practice we consistently encourage all our patients to consistently take time to rest and renew. From Wednesday January 1st to Wednesday January 8th, 2025 our offices will be closed while we offer the opportunity for our staff to also recharge themselves with the onset of the New Year.

As winter is the season for renewal and recovery we encourage our staff and our community to use your time this week in a similar spirit! Take some time just for yourself to do absolutely nothing or treat yourself to something totally indulgent!

All non urgent calls, calls related to lab orders, results, medical records requests, pharmacy refills or billing questions will not be able to be answered until after we reopen. Any messages submitted on the patient portal during this time will be logged, but may not be reviewed or responded to until after we reopen. If you do need an emergency medication refill during this time, we recommend that you consult a telemedicine provider. Once we have reopened, all messages will be responded to in the order received. I just wanted to let you know that I've started on my yoga practice. Sun salutations in the morning have been fantastic, and I've also been using the app to meditate before sleep. IHP Group Participant

I completed all 3 of the yoga recommendations you assigned me. I even took it a step farther and started doing the sun salutations after watching the video 3 times. And also started doing some research into kundalini and watched videos of it to compare to other yoga types. :) IHP Group Participant

I did notice an increase in energy and had better mood stability with more of a level head. IHP Group Participant

I have been working on being more intentional these past couple of weeks. Overall, my water intake has increased because I set a reminder on my phone. I have included more plant based meals into my diet. I'm practicing Vinyasa flow and meditation at least twice a week. Also, starting Monday I'm cutting out sugar, dairy, and alcohol for at least 7 days. IHP Group Participant

This is a group community event only for established members of Dr. Kourtney’s IHP membership. You do NOT need to have to have established a physician patient relationship to participate in this membership and the IHP membership does not establish a physician patient relationship. Dr. Kourtney is the chief facilitator of this group.

Making Herbal Body Oils- Crossroads ObGyn and Wellness

This month’s group is all about supporting a healthy vibe to start the New Year! During this month’s group visit we will focus on positive affirmations, loving-kindness meditations and helping to coach IHP members on increasing their self compassion. We will also be reviewing options for improving low libido (known as a low sex drive) including botanical, medication and supplement recommendations.

This month’s group session will include a 20-30 minute guided meditation, group discussion of insights, coaching on botanical and education on medication options for low libido as well as an independent take home assignments that participants can use after the visit to help them work on their goals of loving kindness.

During this group visit we will review the following exercises:

Tools to develop a self compassion toolbox-Crossroads ObGyn and Wellness-Dr. Kourtney
  • Three Loving Connectionsβ€” This exercise aims to increase psychological well-being by targeting social closeness. If you are the type of person who dislikes meditation or loving kindness meditation in particular, this exercise may be a valuable alternative.

  • Self Compassion Letter Writingβ€”Life is not perfect, and there are always good days and bad days, highs and lows. On your bad days, it can be hard to see how tomorrow will be any better. This exercise will help you capture your best moments by writing a letter to yourself on your better days to read on your bad days.

If you are interested in participating in this class and you are not yet a paid registered IHP member click on the Register now button below. If you are a current IHP group member you will automatically receive a registration link to the class as long as your membership is current.

Dr. Kourtney's Community Circle-- Rebalance Yoga

This event is being shared with the Crossroads Community to participate

This Rebalance Yoga Session has been designed to bring a little zen to your day. During this 25 minute class you will bring a little relaxation and release of tension in your hips as well as your hamstrings. Don’t worry if you are new to yoga as this class has been designed for beginner and advanced practitioners alike.

Developing a personal yoga practice is one that has been shown to be beneficial in multiple health issues. Yoga β€œpractices enhance muscular strength and body flexibility, promote and improve respiratory and cardiovascular function, promote recovery from and treatment of addiction, reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain, improve sleep patterns, and enhance overall well-being and quality of life”.(1) Yoga can be used to help in balancing for your adrenal glands as well as your hormonal health.(2,3) It can help to decrease the symptoms experienced during menopause and can also help to improve well being for patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer.(3,4) All this data points to the fact that when you take the time to develop a yoga practice that lives on and off the mat it allows your body to balance itself from the inside out. One of the best things about developing your own yoga practice is that is is always accessible to you.

What Is The Community Circle?

Dr. Kourtney’s Community Circle was created as a love offering to our community. Circles represent the connectedness of everything in nature and in holistic healing all body systems are also interwoven and connected. Dr. Kourtney established this global Community Circle to create a safe and equitable space for the community to be able to come together on a regular basis to participate in different activities all geared towards healing of the mind, body and the spirit. Although everyone walks an individual journey to their most optimal health sometimes it can be beneficial to come together for some activities for group support. All Community Circle classes are free to members of Dr. Kourtney’s community (which is also free to join!).

The class is taught by Cat Meffan on Fiit and is powered by the Fiit platform who has generously structured their platform to allow for this healing community experience.

Dr. Kourtney's Community Circle-- Rebalance Breathwork

Dr. Kourtney's Community Circle-- Rebalance Breathwork

This event is being shared with the Crossroads Community to participate

This Rebalance Breathwork Session will train you to breathe better by alternating between chest and belly breathing. During this 25 minute class you will learn how to go deeper with your breath and build new connections with your brain. It’s not magic, it’s science!

Practicing breathwork exercises (otherwise known as pranayama) such as the ones presented in this session can be extremely beneficial for balancing for your adrenal glands. These glands help your body process and combat stressors, both acute and chronic. Breathwork exercises helps to drop your cortisol levels, helps to unlock your relaxation response, and benefits both your mental and your physical health. (1) This means that when you take the time to incorporate these type of practices into your schedule (say 2 or 3 times a week to start) what you are really doing is literally processing out the stress that your body has to deal with day in and day out. This may not lighten your schedule or your responsibilities but it should at least not make those responsibilities and stressors feel so heavy! One of the best things about learning breathwork techniques is that your breath is always available, is always free and always accessible to you.

What is the Community Circle?

Dr. Kourtney’s Community Circle was created as a love offering to our community. The class is taught by Richie Bostock on Fiit and is powered by the Fiit platform who has generously structured their platform to allow for this healing community experience.

About the teacher

Richie Bostock is one of the world's leading teachers of this revolutionary breathing practise. Learn how to use your breath to reduce stress and improve energy levels, sleep and athletic performance. Experience it to believe it! You can read more about Richie in this trainer’s spotlight and if you are interested in learning about more of his offerings you may find more information on his work here.

Dr. Kourtney's Community Circle-- Rebalance Mobility Session

This event is being shared with the Crossroads Community to participate

This Rebalance Mobility Session is a great to do pre or post workout but it can also stand alone as a great mobility exercise. During this 40 minute class you will just be able to breathe, relax and just flow. This is a gentle practice that will leave you feeling loose, relaxed and in the zone.

Practicing mobility exercises such as the ones presented in this session can be extremely beneficial for balancing for your adrenal glands. These glands help your body process and combat stressors, both acute and chronic. Mobility and movement exercises functionally move stress out of your tissues on a connective tissue level to help to lower your body’s perception of stress (1). This means that when you take the time to incorporate these type of practices into your schedule (say 2 or 3 times a week to start) what you are really doing is literally processing out the stress that your body has to deal with day in and day out. This may not lighten your schedule or your responsibilities but it should at least not make those responsibilities and stressors feel so heavy!

If you have insurance typically group visits are covered by insurance similar to an individual visit. If you are a self pay patient we do offer self pay rates for this type of group visit if you are an established patient.

This month’s group is all about tapping into healthy emotional health. During this month’s group visit we will focus on heart centered meditations and positive affirmations, and helping to coach patients on nurturing healthy emotions. We will also be reviewing herbs for emotional healing from a trauma informed perspective. We will learn how to use plant allies to encourage the body’s natural healing processes, to promote relaxation, sleep, a sense of roundedness while fostering community.

This shared medical group visit will include a 20-30 minute guided meditation, group discussion of insights on previously assigned work and a review of herbs that support emotional healing as well as an independent activity that patients can use after the visit.

In this month’s guided meditation and sound healing, you are invited to re-connect with nature and the elements inside you. You will be taken on a journey to your deepest essence. Relaxing music, nature sounds, healing frequencies and guided visualizations will help you to relax deeply and release negative emotions and stress. After the meditation, you should feel relaxed, regenerated, more grounded and centered.

Any patient that is currently sharing a lifestyle/dietary journal as part of their treatment plan will also have that reviewed as well as part of this visit. You must be an established patient to participate in this monthly support group. Group visits are typically covered by insurance depending on your medical history and diagnosis. If you would like our office to verify your benefits for this service please submit a service request for verification of benefits for the IHP group online to our support desk here.

This is a virtual group visit where patients receive programmed personalized education on energetic composition, lifestyle habits, dietary advice, mind-body exercises and more. During this time participants are also able to ask and answer questions and receive support from other group participants

Here are just a few examples of some of the topics that are covered in this cohort group.

  • Circadian Rhythms

  • Functional Health Principles

  •  Daily Prakriti Balancing Practices

  • Herbal Medicine Making

  • Yoga with Intention: Developing Your Yoga Practice: Introduction to 8 Limbs & Finding Your Asana Style

  • Detoxification Pathways 1 (Understanding Toxic Burden)

  • Hormonal Balancing 101- Understanding Your Sex Steroid Hormones

  • Developing Your Meditation & Mindfulness Practice

  • Gut Health : Functional Overview & Assimilation

Here’s what our patient’s have to say about the benefits of the Integrative Health Pathways Program and the changes that they have made while participating:

This is a shared medical visit only for established patients. You do need to have had a visit with our office within the past year to participate. Dr. Kourtney is the chief facilitator of this group. If you have insurance typically group visits are covered by insurance similar to an individual visit. If you are a self pay patient we do offer self pay rates for this type of group visit if you are an established patient.

This month’s group is all about supporting a healthy self care vibe for the month of love! During this month’s group visit we will focus on positive affirmations, loving-kindness meditations and helping to coach patients on increasing their self compassion. We will also be reviewing ideas that you can use to spark some passion of your own this month!

This shared medical group visit will include a 20-30 minute guided meditation, group discussion of insights on previously assigned work, review of recipes as well as 3 independent assignments that patients can use after the visit to help them work on their goals of self- love and self compassion.

During this group visit we will review the following exercises:

  • Three Loving Connectionsβ€” This exercise aims to increase psychological well-being by targeting social closeness. If you are the type of person who dislikes meditation or loving kindness meditation in particular, this exercise may be a valuable alternative.

  • Create a Self Compassion Toolboxβ€” Self-compassion is associated with increased happiness, optimism, coping skills, emotional intelligence, and social connectedness. Patients will be given an exercise to help them to develop their self compassion toolbox, how to create this toolbox and then incorporate the toolbox in daily life

  • Self Compassion Letter Writingβ€”Research has shown that writing a letter to yourself from the perspective of a compassionate other can help increase self-compassion and improve well-being. Once patients learn this skill it is advisable to do this practice weekly, or at least once per month, to achieve sustainable effects.

Any patient that is currently sharing a lifestyle/dietary journal as part of their treatment plan will also have that reviewed as well as part of this visit.

If you are interested in participating in this group please call our office at 832-415-0376 to schedule or if you prefer please click on the button below to reserve your space. If you would like our office to verify your benefits for this service please submit a service request for verification of benefits for the IHP group online to our support desk here.

If you have insurance typically group visits are covered by insurance similar to an individual visit. If you are a self pay patient we do offer self pay rates for this type of group visit if you are an established patient.

This month’s group is all about the best way to detoxify your body based on Ayurvedic principles. Using these techniques it allows you to target things to increase and avoid based on your own individual body composition. During this month’s group visit we will focus on positive affirmations, mindfulness, communication, mindful speech, and emotional intelligence.

This shared medical group visit will include a guided meditation, group discussion of insights on previously assigned work, review of recipes as well as independent assignments that patients can use after the visit to help them work on their mind-body connection.

During this group visit we will review the following exercises:

  • The Four-Step Non-Violent Communication (NVC) Process NVC involves both mindful awareness and compassion towards us and others. Rather than reacting in habitual, automatic ways, NVC helps us speak firmly based on an awareness of our perceptions, feelings, and wants. When we interact with others and focus on clarifying what is being observed, felt, and needed rather than on diagnosing and judging, we can increase compassion.

  • Reframing β€œfaux feelings” β€”Although grammatically correct, none of the following sentences expresses feelings: β€œI feel hassled,” β€œI feel insulted,” and β€œI feel criticized.” These are faux feelings, that is, thoughts masquerading as feelings. Helping patients learn to separate the judgment and mental interpretation of a faux feeling from the true feeling is an important skill. When patients learn to master this skill, there is less room for blaming others and more room for finding solution, self-awareness, and growth.

Any patient that is currently sharing a lifestyle/dietary journal as part of their treatment plan will also have that reviewed as well as part of this visit. You must be an established patient to participate in this monthly support group. Group visits are typically covered by insurance depending on your medical history and diagnosis. If you would like our office to verify your benefits for this service please submit a service request for verification of benefits for the IHP group online to our support desk here.

β€œThe cool thing about Breathwork is it can get you out of your mind in a few minutes. You’ll start to feel physical sensations and then go into a meditative state, without needing to know anything about meditation. I’ve had clients with insomnia have their first good night of sleep in decades after just one class!” says Richie.
