- By age 40, 40% of women with PCOS will develop pre-diabetes or diabetes.

- Lifestyle management in PCOS can help to regulate cycles, improve fertility and lessen the risk of PCOS complications such as diabetes and high cholesterol.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a health problem that affects one in 10 women of childbearing age.

Despite being one of the most common endocrine disorders, PCOS receives less than .1% of funding from the National Institutes of Health.

In this class Dr. Kourtney will focus on the 4 necessary pillars that are needed to manage PCOS-nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress management. Your body always has a way to heal and balance itself and lifestyle management is always key! Each class participant will also receive a 28 day nutritional and exercise plan that is specific to body type.

The Breakthrough 101 classes is a group class series designed for insured patients who want to become a more active participant in their healthcare. The classes in this series cover a broad range of subjects in functional wellness including gut health, HPA axis management, sleep hygiene, nutrition management, raw & living foods, plant based eating, the benefits of a keto or paleo style diet, insomnia, hormonal balance, management of moods, mindfulness and more! All classes in this series are designed and presented by Dr. Kourtney Sims M.D., F.A.C.O.G., N.C.M.P. and are typically range from 1-1.5 hours in length. The goal of this series is to improve access and education to the community and our patients in the areas of the root causes of imbalance and disease and as such are specifically designed to be billable to insurance.

Cancer has a major impact on the United States as well as across the world, including holding the title as a leading cause of death worldwide. 

In the United States alone, it is estimated that there will be 1,735,350 new cancer cases and 609,640 deaths from cancer this year. That translates to:
144,610 new cases and 50,800 deaths each month
4,750 new cases and 1,670 deaths each day
3 new cases and 1 death each minute

According to the CDC, the following lifestyle changes significantly lowers cancer risk and premature death:
Eating A Healthy Diet
Maintaining A Healthy Weight
Avoiding Tobacco
Limiting (if not, stopping altogether) Alcohol Consumption
Engaging in Regular Physical Activity
Limiting Unprotected Exposure to the Sun
